Chile is the largest market in Latin America still without an online betting law. A bill has been in Congress since 2022, the casino regulator and Polla Chilena have won court rulings against foreign operators, and payment blocks have been attempted, while a dozen international brands sponsor Chilean football and take bets from millions of Chileans every week. Here are the three that scored best in our tests with a Chilean account, and what the law will change.
The Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego regulates land-based casinos and the state lottery runs Polla Chilena; neither has a mandate over online sports betting, which is why the foreign sites operated openly for years. The bill under discussion would license operators, tax gross revenue and block the unlicensed; courts have meanwhile ruled that offering betting without authorisation is illegal, and some banks have restricted card payments to betting sites, with limited effect. For the bettor the situation is a grey market with the rules changing: legal to bet, no licensed site to bet on, no local recourse.
The international brands treat Chile as a priority: Betsson, Coolbet, bet365 and others run Spanish sites, accept Chilean pesos and sponsor clubs. Verification follows their own licences, at the first withdrawal, and accepts the cédula.
Payments are Webpay and bank transfers, the Mach and Tenpo wallets, cards where the bank allows, and crypto. Bank withdrawals arrived within a day in our tests; when the law passes, licensed sites will be required to use Chilean banking rails.
Ranked by our test score. None holds a Chilean licence, because none exists yet; all three are expected to apply when the law passes.
Betsson sponsors Chilean football and treats the country as a home market: peso accounts, Webpay and bank transfers, streaming, and withdrawals within a day in our test.
bet365 accepts Chileans on its Spanish site with peso accounts; the live menu and streaming are the draw, and bank withdrawals took two days in our test.
An Estonian-licensed operator that made Chile its main Latin American market, with a Spanish site, peso accounts, Webpay deposits and bank withdrawals within a day in our test; prices are fair and the sports menu is football-first.
All accept Chileans; none has a Chilean licence.
Webpay and bank transfers on the European brands; wallets and crypto on the international platforms.
There is no licensing law yet; betting on foreign sites is not an offence for the player, and courts have ruled against the operators.
The bill has been in Congress since 2022 and its timing is uncertain.
Not under current rules; the bill proposes taxes on operators.
The brands already sponsoring Chilean football are expected to apply; the list will be published when the law is in force.
