Betting with crypto: wallets, networks, fees and the mistakes that lose coins

How to fund a bookmaker with Bitcoin or USDT, get paid in an hour and avoid the two errors that cannot be undone: the wrong address and the wrong network.

Key points

  • Use a stablecoin on a cheap network, USDT on Tron for most sites, unless you want to hold the coin itself.
  • Copy the address from the deposit page, send a small test amount first, and never send on a network the page does not list.
  • Crypto sites verify identity before large withdrawals like everyone else; the privacy is partial.

Setting up

You need a place to hold coins: an exchange account, where you buy with a card or bank transfer and can send from, or a self-custody wallet, where you hold the keys. Beginners use an exchange; experienced users move coins to a wallet they control and send from there. Either way, the betting site is never the place to store coins between sessions.

Choosing the coin and the network

Bitcoin is accepted everywhere and confirms in tens of minutes. Ethereum confirms in minutes but gas fees vary wildly. USDT and USDC hold a dollar value and, on the Tron network (TRC-20), move for cents in a minute; this is what most crypto bettors use. The deposit page lists the networks the site accepts for each coin; a token sent on a network the site does not support is gone.

Depositing

  1. Open the deposit page, choose the coin and the network, and copy the address it shows. Compare the first and last characters after pasting.
  2. Send a small test amount first: five dollars proves the route.
  3. Send the real amount. The balance credits after the confirmations the site requires, one to three on most networks.
  4. Save the transaction hash; it is your receipt if the credit does not appear.

Withdrawing

Enter your own wallet address, again checked character by character, choose the network, confirm by email or app. Approval was within the hour on every site in our ranking that offers crypto; the network then delivers in minutes. Some sites deduct the network fee from the amount; most show it before you confirm.

Fees in practice. A 100 USDT deposit on Tron cost us under one dollar in fees in and out. The same 100 as USDT on Ethereum cost between four and twenty dollars depending on the hour. Bitcoin cost two to eight dollars. Coins are cheap to move if you pick the rail; they are expensive if you do not.

Volatility

A balance in bitcoin is a bet on bitcoin as well as on the match. Sites that hold the balance in fiat convert at deposit and again at withdrawal, with a spread each way; sites that hold it in coin leave the risk with you. Stablecoins remove the problem on both sides, which is why most crypto betting now runs on them.

Verification and licences

Every crypto-accepting site in our ranking asked for a document before a large withdrawal. The lighter checks at deposit are real; anonymity is not. Almost all of these sites hold a Curaçao licence; read our licence page before leaving a balance there.

Taxes and records

The win is a gambling win under your country’s rules; the coin movements may be capital-gains events. Keep the hashes and the exchange statements; see our tax summary.
