How betting works in Colombia
Every legal site runs on a .co domain and shows its Coljuegos licence; the regulator publishes the list and orders internet providers to block the rest, which they do with reasonable speed. Registration requires a Colombian ID number, the cédula, verified against government records, so only residents can play. Local brands dominate: Betplay, owned by the Corredor Empresarial group, has the largest share, Wplay and Rushbet follow, and Betsson is the largest international licensee.
Winnings above a threshold of about 48 tax units are subject to a 20 percent withholding at payout; ordinary bets fall below it. Operators pay a tax on gross revenue and a fixed fee per registered player, which is why bonuses are modest and margins on Colombian football sit around five to six percent.
Payments are local: PSE bank transfers, the Nequi and Daviplata wallets, cash at Efecty and Baloto, cards for those who have them. Withdrawals to Nequi and bank accounts arrived within a day in our tests.
