The Czech Republic licensed online betting under a 2017 Gambling Act that opened the market to foreign operators in theory and left it to Czech brands in practice: Tipsport and Fortuna, with betting shops in every town, hold most of it, and Betano is the one foreign group to have built a real share. Verification is unusually thorough. Here are the three that scored best in our tests with a Czech account.
The Ministry of Finance licenses operators and publishes the list; licensed sites run .cz domains and follow a two-step registration: a temporary account opened online, then full verification within a short period by a bank identity check, a data box or a visit to a branch, without which the account is closed. The national exclusion register, run by the ministry, is checked at registration. Unlicensed sites are blocked from a published list, though enforcement has been uneven.
Tipsport, the largest, and Fortuna, owned by the same Czech-based group that runs Fortuna in Poland and Slovakia, dominate; Betano, Sazka Bet from the lottery, Chance and a few others complete the list. Prices on the Czech league and European football sit around five to six percent margin. Operators pay a tax on gross revenue; players pay income tax only on annual winnings above a high threshold.
Payments are cards, bank transfers, Skrill and cash at the betting shops; withdrawals to a bank arrived within a day in our tests.
