Slovakia regulates online betting through a dedicated authority created in 2019, licenses a short list of operators and blocks the rest. The market belongs to three brands with shops across the country, Nike, Tipsport and Fortuna, and no international group has taken a share. Winnings are tax-free for the player. Here are the three that scored best in our tests with a Slovak account.
The Úrad pre reguláciu hazardných hier licenses operators under the 2019 Gambling Act, maintains the register of excluded persons that every licensed site checks, and publishes the list of blocked websites that providers must enforce. Registration requires a document and, for full verification, a bank identity check or a visit to a branch, as in the Czech Republic; the two markets share brands and habits.
Nike, the Slovak brand with the most shops, Tipsport, the Czech leader’s Slovak arm, and Fortuna hold the market between them; Doxxbet and a few smaller local names complete the list. Ice hockey rivals football in the menus and the prices, which sit around five to six percent margin. Operators pay a tax on gross revenue; players pay nothing on winnings from licensed sites.
Payments are bank transfers, cards and cash at the shops; withdrawals to a bank arrived within a day in our tests.
Ranked by our test score. All three hold a licence from the Slovak regulator.
The largest Slovak bookmaker, with the biggest shop network in the country, the deepest Slovak football and hockey menus, streaming and bank withdrawals within a day in our test. The app is fast; prices lead the local market.
